About INHS Patanjali
The Indian Naval Hospital Ship Patanjali is a hospital of the Indian Navy located in Karwar in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It was commissioned in December of 2006. It had an initial capacity of 141 beds but can be upgraded to 400 beds. Karwar is under the Western Naval Command.
Contributions in Times of COVID-19 Pandemic
The medical personnel and the facilities of INHS Patanjali are being engaged in the treatment of 9 COVID-19 patients in the district. 8 patients had been cured. The hospital has made alternate arrangements for routine medical care to the service personnel and their families that depend on it. Its original functions involve preventive and curative care to the personnel of the Navy, Coast Guard, NCC, DSC, ex-servicemen and also their families.
