Face Masks

The centre is making efforts to ensure adequate supply of face masks for healthcare workers. Elsewhere, surgical masks are being washed ashore at beaches due to improper disposal.

2 Ply Surgical Masks

A 2 ply surgical mask is a cheap variety of hygiene mask made up of polypropylene or other non-woven material. It offers no protection against viruses as its intended use is for restaurants (while handling food) and in spas for sanitary purposes.

3 Ply Surgical Masks

A 3 ply surgical mask offers more protection and is generally used in medical settings during surgeries. It has 3 layers: a hydrophobic outer layer that repels body fluids, a middle layer capable of filtering out bacteria and an inner hydrophilic layer that absorbs sweat and other body fluids. They are capable of preventing the spread of viruses.

N95 Masks

N95 masks are a type of protective equipment used to keep the wearer safe from liquid contaminations and airborne particles. It has a close fit and a more efficient level of filtration than a surgical mask. These are not recommended for use by the general public.
