Art Exhibition in Bangladesh to mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

A 10-day long art exhibition to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was inaugurated in Bangladesh on Wednesday, 8th January 2020 with floral tribute paid by the Members of Parliament of Bangladesh H.M Ibrahim and Mirza Alam from Noakhali and Jamalpur constituency respectively. Noakhali and Jamalpur are the places in Bangladesh where two Gandhi Ashrams are located. The special guest on the inauguration ceremony was Renowned Bangladeshi journalist, Syed Abul Maksud. India’s Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Bishwadip Dey also added the inauguration ceremony and said that the exhibition will promote Mahatma Gandhi’s life of simplicity and appreciation towards his devotion to truth.

The exhibition features unique photographs of Mahatma Gandhi from his days during various movements in India and South Africa as well. Under the guidance of renowned Bangladeshi artist Prof. Rokeya Sultana, an art camp was organized in Sylhet Division in December 2019, the art exhibition organized is a culmination from the art camp.
