PM Modi to address UN General Assembly

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has been invited to address a session of the annual UN General Assembly (UNGA) on September 28.

This information was released in the provisional list of world leaders who will speak during the 74th session of the UNGA.

Prime Minister Modi will be among the 48 Heads of Governments who will address the gathering along with 30 more Foreign Ministers of sovereign countries who will be part of the General Debate.

Other programs?

• Given the influx of so many world leaders in one place, the several high-profile leader summits will be held on the sidelines of the 74th session.
• These include the 2019 Climate Action Summit which will meet to discuss the climate change challenge. The summit aims to accelerate actions to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
• The?Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Summit will also be held in which the world leaders will meet in the UN Headquarters to review the progress in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the status of the 17 SDGs.
