Anshula Kant : World Bank’s New MD and CFO
The World Bank Group has declared that Anshula Kant has been appointed as the next MD and CFO.
Who is Anshula Kant?
- Ms. Kant who holds an Honours degree in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College and a post-graduate degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics has more than 35 years of expertise in finance, banking, and innovative use of technology. She was earlier associated with the State Bank of India and left as the CFO of the bank.
- Ms. Kant will be responsible for financial and risk management and her duties include risk management and financial reporting and assist the World Bank s CEO in mobilizing financial resources.
- Ms. Kant, an Indian national, will be the first woman CFO of the Bank.

It comprises of two separate institutions: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), and the International Development Association (IDA). The most recent stated goal of the World Bank is the reduction of poverty. The largest recipients of world bank loans were India ($859 million in 2018) and China ($370 million in 2018), through loans from IBRD.
