India, Tunisia sign two MoUs for co-operation in handicrafts and IT sector

India and Tunisia have signed two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for co-operation in Information Technology (IT) and promotion of traditional handicrafts.
These MoUs were signed in the presence of Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid in Tunis.
Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari visited Tunisia on the final leg of his two- nation trip after visiting Morocco.
Key facts

  • MoU on traditional handicraft promotion: Under it, both countries will promote each other’s traditional handicraft.
  • MoU in IT sector: Under it, both countries will increase mutual cooperation in the IT and related sectors, including digital economy

Besides singing MoUs, both countries also decided to enhance co-operation in counter terrorism. Discussion on bilateral ties focused on economic partnership and adding new areas of collaboration in IT and education were also held. India also appreciated Tunisia’s support to India’s candidature to the expanded United Nations Security Council.
