5 Documents developed by UGC launched by Union HRD Minister

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has developed 5 documents that cover the 5 vertical mandate of Quality. The five documents for higher education institutions cover professional ethics & human values, evaluation reforms, academic research integrity among higher education institutions, faculty induction programs, sustainable and eco-friendly university campuses.

The Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal  ‘Nishank’ on Thursday, December 26, 2019, launched the UGC developed 5 documents. The HRD Minister while addressing the gathering at the launch event said that the mandate of the Higher Education Quality Improvement Programme has been adopted by the UGC for improving the quality of Institutions of  Higher Education in the country. The Quality Improvement Programme aims towards leading a rewarding life for the next generation by equipping them with knowledge, vital skills, and ethics.

The Minister also emphasized making curriculum-based learning outcomes by making the assessment of students more effective and meaningful and the important role that students play in improving the Higher Education system of a country.  The minister also suggested the higher educational institutions to follow the timely report ‘Evaluation Reforms in Higher Educational Institutions in India’ in order to achieve higher Learning Outcomes.

During his speech the Minister also mentioned about SATAT and MulyaPravah, both frameworks of the UGC, MulyaPravah is the Guidelines for Inculcation of Professional Ethics and Human Values in the higher education institutions while SATAT is a Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Framework for Campus development in higher education institutions that encourages universities to adopt sustainable methods and to practice policies that enhance the environment quality in the campus of the universities.
