Lokesh Chandra and Mansura Haider honoured with Mongolia’s highest award
The two noted Indian scholars Lokesh Chandra and Mansura Haider have been honoured with the “North Star”, Mongolia’s highest award.
They were awarded for their contribution to the development of friendly relations between India and Mongolia and promotion of Mongolian studies. The occasion also marked 60th anniversary of Indo-Mongolian diplomatic relations.
Lokesh Chandra: He is President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). He is a prominent scholar of the Vedic period, Buddhism and the Indian arts.
Mansura Haider: She is former academic adviser at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA). She also had worked as a professor and former dean of the faculty of arts in history department of Aligarh Muslim University.
