Notes:
In Madhya Pradesh, the state government has decided to provide 5% reservation for national and international medallists in government jobs. It was announced by Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Jitu Patwari  during the inauguration of Under 16 state-level Olympic Games at Kampoo sports complex in Gwalior on 24th November 2019. He also announced that children from all CBSE, government and private schools would be involved in the Olympics. At present, the competition is being organized for children above 16 years of age. He said it includes 10 sports — hockey, basketball, football, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, athletics, wrestling, badminton and table tennis.

Kailash Joshi (91), the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh & BJP leader, has passed away in Bhopal on 24th of November 2019. His last rites  performed at his ancestral town Hatpipalya in Dewas district. Born on 14th July 1929, Joshi was called as the ‘saint of politics’. He served as the state’s chief minister from 1977 to 1978. He was MLA for 8 terms and also served as member of both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.

Ishant Sharma has become the first Indian bowler to take five-wicket haul in the Day-night Pink ball Test against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Earlier, Mohammad Nisar was the first-ever Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul with the red ball against England at Lord’s in 1932. Interestingly, current head-coach Ravi Shastri holds the record of first-ever five-wicket haul by an Indian with the white ball when he took 5-wickets against Australia at WACA in 1991.

On 23rd November 2019, Indian Army celebrated the historic  Poonch Link-up Day with traditional gaiety & fervour to mark the Operation Easy conducted by them in 1948 to defend the border district from the invading Pakistani raiders. Poonch withstood a siege by the Pakistanis from November 1947 till relieved by the Indian Army. The day marks the historic link up carried out by Brigadier Pritam Singh’s forces with Brigadier Yadunath’s forces from Rajouri at Danna Ka Pir on 21 November 1948.

India’s first largest biotechnology stakeholders conglomerate – the Global Bio-India (GBI) Summit, 2019 was held in New Delhi on 24th November. The 3-day summit provided an opportunity to showcase the potential of India’s biotech sector to the international community, identify, create opportunities and deliberate on the key challenges in the areas of Bio-pharma, Bio-Agri, Bio-Industrial, Bio-Energy and Bio-Services and allied sectors.
