What is the contribution John Locke to law?

[Jurisprudence] John Locke’s theory is contrary to that of Hobbes. His plea is for a constitutionally limited sovereign. He exercised great influence and his writings commanded almost scriptural respect in the 18th century. It led to parliamentary democracy. His ‘inalienable rights’ of the individual came to be embodied in many constitutions and were guaranteed to the individual. The 19th century’s ‘laissez faire’ theory in economics derived inspiration from his views.
