Noori

Noori is the name of a cloned pashmina goat, born on March 9, 2012 at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUSAT). Under a World Bank-funded project, the Srinagar-based Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUSAT) was working with the Karnal-based National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), the nodal agency of the project, to clone pashmina goats.

Title of the project is ‘Value Chain on Zone Free Cloned Embryos Production and Development of Elite Germ Plasma Pashmina Project’. Noori is world’s first cloned pashmina goat, prized for its fine wool.
