Life imprisonment to Hosni Mubarak
Former President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt sentenced to life imprisonment for allegedly killing over 900 protesters protesters during the revolt against his regime in 2011. Mubarak and his sons Alaa and Gamaal Mubarak acquitted of charges of corruption and financial irregularities. Former Minister of Interior Habib al-Adly also sentenced life imprisonment. Former military regime key functionaries who were alleged for killings of protesters acquitted of the charges of complicity.
- Mubarak is the first Arab leader to be sentenced after the Arab Spring.
