India will host the 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup from 13th to 29th of January. While, Spain and the Netherlands have been named as the co-hosts of the 2022 Women’s World Cup scheduled to be held from 1st to 22nd of July.The decisions were made during FIH’s Executive Board Meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland on 9th November 2019.

Sanjay Gupta, the former Star and Disney India managing director, has been appointed new country manager and vice-president of sales and operations for Google India. He will take his new role in 2020 and will be based in Mumbai. At Star and Disney, Gupta played an important role in making it the India’s largest media company and increased its digital footprint with Hotstar, which is India’s largest OTT platform. He also built Star’s sports business through acquisitions of cricketing properties and launch of the Pro-Kabaddi League (PKL) and football league – Indian Super League (ISL).

The University of Michigan in partnership with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi and the Kasturba Medical College in Manipal on genetic testing in India. The $2.3 million grant from the National Institute of Health over 5 years will help the University of Michigan and Indian geneticists identify and confirm genetic changes that are the basis of developmental disorders.

Maharashtra has topped the list of 18 large-medium States in the overall first-ever ranking of Indian States on justice deliver to its citizens. Kerala acquired 2nd position followed by Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Haryana. The ranking is part of the India Justice Report(IJR) 2019. It is an initiative of Tata Trusts in collaboration with Centre for Social Justice, Common Cause, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, DAKSH, TISS- Prayas and Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy.The report has been prepared based on publicly available data of different government entities on the four pillars of justice delivery — police, judiciary, prisons and legal aid.The report highlights the fact that even the best performing States scored less than 60% in their performance on capacity across the police, judiciary, prisons and legal aid.

India will host the 3rd edition of the conference of the “No Money For Terror” in 2020, which is the ministerial-level grouping of 70 countries that focuses on countering terror financing, terror and radicalisation. The decision was announced during the 2nd ‘No Money For Terror’ Conference in Melbourne on 7th November 2019. The conference is organised by Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) of over 100 countries, jointly called The Egmont Group. The group was set up in 2018 & is a much smaller version of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) that has a single-point agenda to crack down on terror financing.
