EX-EASTERN BRIDGE-V: India-Oman Joint Exercise

Indian Air Force is participating in a bilateral joint exercise with Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), dubbed as EX-EASTERN BRIDGE-V at Masirah Air Force Base in Oman. The Joint Exercise will be held from 17 to 26 October 2019.

About EX-EASTERN BRIDGE-IV

The last Indo-Oman Air Force exercise was held in 2017 at Jamnagar, City in Gujarat.

Participants: IAF contingent comprising of MiG-29 UPG (upgrade) combat aircraft along with C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft will be participating. MiG-29 will be exercising with RAFO’s Eurofighter Typhoon, F-16 and Hawk 200 combat aircraft. This is for the first time, MiG-29 fighter aircraft will be participating in an International Exercise outside India.

Significance:  The bilateral exercise will enhance inter-operability during mutual operations between two Air Forces and will provide an opportunity to learn from each other’s best practices. The IAF participation in exercise will also promote professional interaction, exchange of operational knowledge and experience.
