Shagun

The Ministry of Human Resource Development launched a web portal Shagun which is an integrated junction of various education portals.

In the portal websites of 1,200 Kendriya Vidyalayas, 600 Navodaya Vidyalayas, 18,000 other CBSE affiliated schools, 30 SCERTs and 19,000 organisations affiliated with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) are integrated.

About the Portal

• The portal provides all the details about the school education system in the country as well as detailed information about schools with a feedback procedure structured for the parents.
• The portal allows the parents to know all about the schools they are sending their children and provide feedback as well.
• The portal links over 15 lakh schools across the country. Further, the schools have been geo-tagged and all the data provided by them can be accessed through this portal. The data provided by schools are also subjected to third party verification.
• The portal connects around 92 lakh teachers and 26 crore students.
• It also provides information on schools nearby, and navigable vis-a-vis aerial distance between schools which helps policy-makers in making informed decisions.

The Shagun portal has been launched by the government in a bid to enhance the accessibility of information relating to schools and to ensure a holistic approach to transform the education sector.
