Former Union Minister Gaddam Venkat Swamy passes away
Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Gaddam Venkat Swamy passed away at Hyderabad, Telangana. He was 85.

- He was born in Hyderabad on October 5, 1929 and popularly was known as Kaka.
- Political career: It spanned about five decades and had served as Member of Parliament (MP) for 7 times. Last was in 2004.
- His career began in 1950, after he was elected for first time to the Assembly of the undivided Andhra Pradesh. He was elected to the State Assembly twice.
- He had held various positions including Union Minister, minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh, MLA and Pradesh Congress Chairman for AP.
- He had served in the Indira Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao Governments.
- Social work: He is founder President, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Education Society which was later converted into Public Education Trust and inaugurated by the then President of India Shri V.V. Giri in 1973. Under the umbrella of this education society 9 Colleges are running without taking donations.
