5th edition of Gyanodaya Express sets off for North-East

Delhi University’s fifth edition of Gyanodaya Express has set off for North-East with 870 students and teachers aboard.
Dharohar-Gyanodaya Express was flagged off from Safdarjang Railway Station by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Sarbanda Sonowal, MoS Youth Affairs and Sports.
The educational trip started from December 18 and will end on December 29. It aims to enrich students about the culture and heritage of the North east region and will cover all eight northeastern states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
Besides learning about the culture and heritage of the northeastern states, students as part of trip will also meet representatives of local universities as well as senior functionaries of the North eastern states during the trip.
As a part preparation for the heritage tour, DU earlier had offered foundation courses in Nepali and Bengali, which are widely spoken in Sikkim and Tripura.
After the trip, Delhi University is planning to publish a book, ‘Dharohar: The glory of the Northeast’ on the experiences of the students on the journey as well as the projects churned out by them.
Gyanodaya Express: It was started by Delhi University in 2012 as the ‘College-on-Wheels’ project.
