Trial run of Guwahati-Dhaka bus service flagged off from Guwahati

The trial run of Guwahati-Dhaka bus service was flagged off from the Inter State Bus Terminus in Guwahati. This trail will be monitored by joint team of India and Bangladesh consisting of seven-member Bangladesh delegation including Joint Secretary of Home Affairs and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation. While Indian delegation will include officials from Ministries of Road Transport and Highways, External Affairs, Home Affairs and Finance, along with officials from Assam and Meghalaya.
Trial run: The 32 seater air conditioned bus will leave Guwahati to Dawki in Meghalaya. From Dawki border point, the team will take another bus of Bangladesh to Dhaka.
Objective: The main objective of this trail run of bus service is to assess route conditions, estimate the actual journey time for a regular bus service and other technical parameters.
It will help joint team from India and Bangladesh to study the feasibility of a regular bus service between the two cities.
