PM Narendra Modi Wins TIME Magazine's Readers' Poll

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has won the TIME Magazine’s Readers’ Poll. It was announced by the magazine. In this poll the readers were asked to vote for who according to them should win the ‘Person of the Year’ title. PM Narendra Modi secured more than 16 per cent of the almost five million votes casted.
Online Readers from more than 225 countries participated in this poll, with US votes leading the tally at 37 per cent, followed by India at 17 per cent, and Russia at 12 per cent.
However, Time Magazine has not selected him in the list of eight finalists for its annual ‘Person of the Year’ title.
TIME editors have narrowed their list from 50 global leaders and CEOs to eight individuals whose names were announced.
The shortlisted  finalists for the annual honour are: Alibaba group head Jack Ma, Ebola caregivers, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Fergusan protesters, singer Taylor Swift, National Football League commissioner Roger Stokoe Goodell and Masoud Barzani – the Kurdish politician who has led the Iraqi-Kurdistan region since 2005.
Time Magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’ title: It is an annual honour that has been bestowed by the magazine. It was started in 1927. Every year it is announced in the month of December. It is given to person who is most influenced in the news during the year.  The person who is chosen may be for better or worse cases in the news.
