Sarbat Da Bhala Express: Train flagged off at New Delhi railway station
Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Harsh Vardhan and Harsimrat Kaur Badal flagged off ‘Sarbat Da Bhala Express’ train at New Delhi railway station. The ‘New Delhi-Lohian Khas-New Delhi Intercity Express’ was recently renamed as ‘Sarbat da Bhala Express’ by Indian Railways. The renamed train will ply from New Delhi to Lohian Khas via holy city Sultanpur Lodhi.
The 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak will be celebrated on 12 November 2019. Several trains have been started by government to facilitate people but this train is a gift for Delhiites and countrymen.
Renaming of Train
The request to rename the train was made by Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal on occasion of 550th Parkash Purb. Her request was later accepted by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal. The renaming of this train is an initiative to follow the path shown by Guru Nanak ji, who was a messenger of peace.
The Prakash Utsav (or Parkash Purb) is celebrated every year to mark the publishing of teachings of Sikh gurus and saints of various communities in the form of hymns and sayings that continue to give the message of love and service to society.
NOTE: It was in Sultanpur Lodhi only that Guru Nanak ji spent 14 years of his life and taught that all communities are one.
