Importance of Intellectual Integrity in Civil Services
Intellectual Integrity is defined as the importance of being true to one’s own rational thinking and to maintain same standards in attitude towards others which one expects from others. A person with good intellectual integrity means that he/she will use logics and reasons for making judgements in most of the cases. Also, the person will be very quick in admitting his/her mistake, if committed any.
Civil servants bestowed with the responsibility of maintaining social order must keep the public interest ahead of personal interest. But this has been reversed in recent times. The civil servants are keeping personal interests ahead of public interest. This is paving the way for the corruption, nepotism in governance. Lack of intellectual intelligence in governance will lead to anarchy and lack of trust worthiness towards governance.
