Kilopower Project

Kilopower Project is the name of world’s most compact nuclear reactor that holds the key to potential future human-based missions to Mars, the moon as well as the deeper parts of space. This project will further help the space agency’s plan to create habitat on Mars and even moon

The main aim of the project is to provide safe and plentiful energy for future robotic and human missions for Mars and beyond. On the Moon, Kilopower could be deployed to help search for resources in permanently shadowed craters

This pioneering space fission power system could provide up to 10 kilowatts of electrical power – enough to run two average households – continuously for at least 10 years.
