The National Consumer Day (NCD) is observed every year in India on December 24 to promote the basic rights of all consumers. On this day, the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 had received the assent of the President. This year, in 2016, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs will celebrate the NCD with the theme “Alternate Consumer Disputes Redressal” at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
