India has recently hosted the 50th anniversary of United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) in New Delhi as part of its commitment to the purposes and principles of the United Nations and the evolution of its specialized programmes and agencies. India is only one of 8 countries that has been a member of UNCITRAL from its inception, and has recently been re-elected for a term of six years. The purpose of the UNCITRAL is to promote the progressive harmonization and unification of international trade law.
