What is UK ArcelorMittal Orbit?

• ArcelorMittal Orbit is the name of an Observation constructed in Olympic Park, London at the cost of £23 m. This 115 meter high observation tower cum steel sculpture is Britain’s largest piece of public art, and is a permanent, lasting legacy of London’s hosting of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
  
• Sited between the Olympic Stadium and the Aquatics Centre, allows visitors to view the whole Olympic Park from two observation platforms. Anish Kapoor has designed the tower in collaboration with engineer Cecil Balmond.The tower has been completed recently.
  
• Recently, the British prime minister David Cameron has described the ArcelorMittal Orbit, a giant steel tower built for next year’s London Olympics, as “another Hindu first for Britain”.
  
• It was funded by Lakshmi Mittal, one of UK’s most successful business leaders. 65% of the raw material used was recycled from scrap lying about at 38 ArcelorMittal’s plants around the world. It was then rolled and cut by computer-guided machinery and re-constructed like pieces of a massive Meccano.
