Meghalaya: Wangala dance festival

• The Hundred Drums or Wangala Festival of the tribal Garos began at Asanang village in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district in the second week of December .
  
• The Wangala is the most important post-harvest festival of the Garos and is a thanksgiving ceremony to Misi Saljong and Minima Rokkime , also known as the Great Giver.
  
• The festival first started in the year 1976 at Asanang and since then it is being held every year in the second week of November.
