PMEGP to continue with double fund allocation in 12th Plan

The Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), will persist in the 12th Five-Year Plan (2012-17). The MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) Ministry declaration held that the scheme to persist with a double fund allocation. Scheme was established in 2008, with a total plan expenditure of Rs 4,735 Crore for 4 years (2008-09 to 2011-12). As yet, Rs 2,955 Crore released and 1.36 Lakh projects aided, which in turn have produced 13.16 Lakh employment.

Objective of the Scheme (PMEGP):

To produce employment chances in rural in addition to employment chances in the urban areas of the nation via establishment of fresh self-employment ventures or projects, or micro- enterprises. The Scheme is enforced via the State Khadi Village and Industries Commission (KVIC) with the participation of banks.
