9-15 October: National Postal Week 2019 celebrated

National Postal Week is being celebrated in the country from 9 October to 15 October 2019 to create awareness about the role and contributions of postal sector in social and economic development as well as in lives of people and business. The National Postal Week involves various programmes which started with celebration of the World Post Day on October 9.

About National Postal Week 2019

The week is celebrated to commemorate the establishment of Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in Swiss capital Berne. The weekly celebrations which will conclude on 15 October 2019 are also aimed at generating a broader awareness about India Post’s role and activities among the public and media at national level.

Regions Celebrated: The postal circle is observing National Postal Week in each of 6 regions under its jurisdiction- Goa, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Aurangabad.

To focus on various services provided by Department of Posts as part of week-long exercise, the department would celebrate-

  1. World Post Day- on October 9
  2. Savings Bank Day- 10 October
  3. Postal Life Insurance Day- 11 October
  4. Philately Day- 12 October
  5. Business Development Day- 14 October
  6. Mail Day- 15 October
