8th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics organized in New Delhi
The 8th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS-VIII) will be held in New Delhi from 18-21 November 2019. It is organised by Union Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoPSI), ISI-CAS, FAO, USDA, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Eurostat, AfDB (African Development Bank), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and various other organizations. India is hosting this important conference in the field of agriculture statistics for first time. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates will be Chief Guest of this conference.
About 8th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS-VIII)
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Statistics for Transformation of Agriculture to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’. It is aimed at addressing various challenges faced in producing data to report on SDGs and various leading research and also to deliberate and finalize best practises in the field of agriculture statistics.
The agenda for this year’s conference covers domains of food and agricultural statistics, related methodologies, technologies and processes. It will see participation of more than 600 delegates of which 200 delegates will be from 108 countries. It will host 5 plenary sessions and 44 technical sessions.
Background
International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS) is a series of conferences that was started in 1998 based on comprehensive need for agricultural data all across the world. It is conducted every three years based on overarching need for agricultural data worldwide. It sponsored by United Nations-Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Bank (WB), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other international development agencies.
Previsions ICAS: The last conference was held in Rome (Italy) in 2016. Before that, it was held in United States, Italy, Mexico, China, Uganda and Brazil.
