6,300 Janaushadhi Kendras operating during Lock Down
The Government of India is currently making sure that there are enough medicines available at Pradhan Mantri Janaushadhi Kendras.

There are more than 6,300 Pradhan Mantri Janaushadhi Kendras in the country working to ensure affordable medicines. GoI is making sure affordable medicines are available in these kendras. The warehouses are to operate 24/7 to deal with the current situation.
Mobile application called “Jan Aushadhi Sugam” was launched. The application will help to locate nearest Janaushadhi Kendra in the country. The application also provides details about the medicines available in the Kendras. Also, the staffs working under the initiative will provide door deliveries.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi were set up to provide generic drugs. It was launched in 2014 with the aim of “Quality Medicines at Affordable prices for all”. These Kendras will provide equivalent drugs as branded drugs are expensive. These stores also sell surgical items supplied by BPPI (Bureau of Pharma Public Sector undertakings of India).
