3rd Anniversary of PM-KISAN
PM-KISAN is a scheme of the central government that was introduced in 2019. This scheme was launched to help farmers holding land with their financial needs. This year is the PM-KISAN scheme’s third anniversary.
Overview:
- Through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Rs 6000/- is deposited into the bank accounts of farmers across the country in three equal installments every four months.
- This scheme was initially launched for small and marginal farmers having up to 2 hectares of landholdings, but in June 2019 it was extended to include all landholding farmers.
- Since the scheme’s inception a number of technological and process developments have been done to ensure that the maximum number of beneficiaries can benefit from it.
- Aadhar validation has been made compulsory to make the whole process transparent and authentic.
How many farmers have received benefits from this scheme?
Around 11.78 crore farmers have received benefits under this scheme. Rs 1.82 lakh crore have been distributed to the beneficiaries under this scheme. Out of this amount, Rs 1.29 lakh crore has been distributed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Self-Registration Mechanism of PM-KISAN
In order to provide an advantage to the farmers the process of self-registration of beneficiaries has been made simple through the use of a mobile app, walk-ins at Common Service Centers, and the PM KISAN portal.
Recovery mechanism of PM-KISAN
The recovery mechanism has been made simple and transparent in the case of ineligible beneficiaries. This process includes an automatic transfer from a state department’s account to the central government account, making it incredibly efficient and time-saving.
Grievance Redressal
A grievance redressal mechanism has been envisaged to address the problems faced by the beneficiaries. The Central Project Management Unit of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana will be set up to streamline the process. A centralized helpdesk has also been established to assist beneficiaries with any issues they may face or query they might have during the registration process.
