2nd South Asia Safety Summit held in New Delhi
The second edition of South Asia Safety Summit was recently held in New Delhi. It was orgnaised by Union Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) and Facebook. It was organized to highlight issue of safety while individuals and communities are connected on the digital platform.
Highlights of Summit
It saw participants from 125 civil society organizations from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan who have expertise in running digital literacy programmes and creating tools for social-emotional development of young people.
Comic series under #CreateCareConnect: It was launched during the summit with an aim to educate young users about online safety in a simple and engaging way. It is illustrated by a young Delhi-based doodler, @neha.doodles.
We Think Digital website: It was launched by Union Minister of WCD Srmiti Irani during the Summit. It is online education portal with interactive tutorials aimed at helping people think critically and share thoughtfully online. It covers topics like privacy, safety, security, digital discourse and knowing your digital footprint.
