28 April: World Day for Safety and Health at Work
Every year 28 year is being observed as the World Day for Safety and Health at Work to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally.
The day is observed mainly by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) as an awareness-raising campaign to raise awareness of safety in the workplace.
It is intended to focus international attention on creating a safety and health culture can help reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.

Background
- Since 1996, worldwide trade union movement are also observing 28 April as International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers to honour the memory of victims of occupational accidents and diseases.
- It is being organized as the global awareness campaigns and ILO became involved in this campaign in 2003 upon request from the trade union movement.
- Therefore, ILO observes the World Day on Safety and Health at Work on April 28 since 2003 for capitalizing its traditional strengths of social dialogue and tripartism.
