22nd edition of UN Committee on CRPD held at Geneva

The 22nd edition of United Nations Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) was held at UNHRC in Geneva from 2nd & 3rd September 2019. In this session, UN Committee on CRPD took up India’s First Country Report on ‘Status of Disability in India’ for consideration. An Indian delegation was headed by Mrs. Shakuntala D. Gamlin (Secretary of DEPwD). She highlighted various initiatives taken by the Government in the recent past for inclusion and empowerment of PwDs in line with the obligations under UNCRPD. India ratified this Convention on 1st October 20117 in pursuance of Article 35 of the Convention.
