2019 World Conference on Access to Medical Products held in New Delhi

Union Minister for Health Dr. Harsh Vardhan inaugurated ‘2019 World Conference on Access to Medical Products: Achieving the SDGs 2030’ in New Delhi. It was jointly organized by Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) and Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).

About Conference

It is a follow on from the “2017 and 2018 World Conference on Access to Medical Products” organized in November 2017 and October 2018 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Objectives: (i) To explore new approaches in the innovation landscape in medical products for achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and SDG 2030 goals (ii) To Discuss the role of intellectual property to promote access to medical products.

It provided platform to further the discussions for access to medical products on themes of ‘UHC and innovation’, ‘legal landscape and trade-related aspects in the context of access to medical products’ and ‘regulation of medical products and access’.
