18 Lakh Labour Identification Number (LIN) issued so far under Shram Suvidha Portal

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has stated that 18 lakh units have been issued Labour Identification Number (LIN) provided by Shram Suvidha Portal under various labour laws. The LIN numbers have been sent through the email addresses and mobile numbers of the unit representatives.

The Unified Shram Suvidha Portal facilitates reporting of inspections and submission of returns and acts a single point contact between employer, employee and enforcement agencies and makes their interactions transparent. Inspection reports prepared by the enforcement inspectors are made available online. A unit registered under any Labour Law has been assigned one Labour Identification Number (LIN). LIN would be made gradually to subsume multiple registration numbers being granted separately by Labour Enforcement Agencies like ESIC registration Number, EPFO number, Registration or license number issued under the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970, etc. So, LIN acts like a pivot around which all the other services work. The simplified procedures would help to provide a business environment which encourages compliance by reducing transaction costs and promotes ease of doing business.
