10 November: World Science Day
Every year 10 November is being observed as World Science Day (WSD) for Peace and Development to demonstrate the importance of science in our daily life
The theme of 2015 WSD is Science for a Sustainable Future which has been chosen in line with 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development approved by the United Nations (UN).
On occasion of this day, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) had conducted special campaigns, visits to science museums for school children, several discussions etc to raise awareness of benefits of science worldwide.
About World Science Day
World Science Day was started in 2001 by UNESCO as a follow-up to the first World Conference on Science in 1999. The conference was jointly organised by UNESCO and International Council for Science in Budapest (Hungary).
2014 World Science Day theme was Quality Science Education: Ensuring a sustainable future for all.
